The following describes the Jazz Bakery as it has existed for 16 years.  We are currently in process of relocating. Our new space will follow the original concept in every detail.

Originally conceived and founded in 1992 by jazz vocalist Ruth Price, the venue's reputation has achieved international stature through Price's uncompromising artistic vision of a performance space with theater seating which creates an interaction between artist and audience that is completely focused and unspoiled by food or beverage servers, where the sound is a treat for the ears, the lighting is appropriate, a great piano is well-maintained, and every seat is an excellent seat! This is truly and purely about the music.

Like all non-profits, the Jazz Bakery has a mission… to bring on a new generation of jazz fans who will appreciate, preserve and cultivate a unique American legacy.This gift to the world is an art form that simultaneously conveys at its heart the freedom, struggle and innovation inherent to jazz! Meeting the mission of the Jazz Bakery takes the dedication and good efforts of a lot people behind the scenes. We couldn't do it without our great core of volunteers, who cover the box office, usher shows, and provide transportation and assistance to our visiting artists. And of course, as a non-profit, it is vital to have our devoted Board of Directors who are responsible for the strategic growth of our organization, insuring the fulfillment of our mission.
